Dogs currently in the possession of ACC Rescue:

ANNA AnnaA dear little 50 pound senior, deadgrass, a bit sober but oh, so sweet. We know nothing about her past, but she surely is deserving of a new forever home. She's on some meds for arthritis pain and is doing very well, wagging and enjoying walks in the grass. She could be 10 years or a couple years older, but would love a quiet, loving home.  For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

HOBIE HobieA sweet boy who loves people companionship. Not crazy about other dogs in his space. Hobie is an athletic 8 year old, medium brown, 75 pounds, neutered, shots up-to-date and ready to settle into a new family situation. He's had the basic obedience training, very responsive to commands. Hobie is a great fellow with much love to give.  For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

COPPER
CopperA big, well bred, handsome fellow, 5 years old, light brown with a small white blaze on his chest. Copper has been neutered and is up-to-date on his shots. He definitely is a man's dog, and that man should be a Chessie-wise person. He needs a home with no small children and some room and time to exercise regularly. Copper will respond and bond well with a man he can trust; a very special boy. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

AMBER (2)
Ambera nice 9 yr old spayed female - up to date on shots. Amber prefers to be the only dog in the home. She is quite anxious about thunderstorms. However, she has lots of love to give to a person with a quiet life style.... she would be a devoted companion, loving walks and just hanging out with her person... rides, too.  For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

BRUISER
Bruiser3+ yr neutered male just arrived from W VA shelter, very friendly and outgoing. Good with other dogs, has some training, but needs more meat on his bones..... which we are working on. Bruiser seems like a great fellow. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

TRIDENT
TridentAn 8 yr old blind boy is back with us - Trident is a former police/drug dog with a nice history until his eyes began to fail. Now he is without any sight, but does very well finding his way around and coping day to day. He really enjoys a leisurely walk outside in the pastures. He also loves to ride.  Shots are up- to- date, microchipped, neutered, he is dark brown about 85 pounds of real nice chessie. A blind dog is hardly more care than one with sight - a fenced area, or walk on lead, of course, would be required. Otherwise, Trident does just fine. He deserves his own place to shine again. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

DILLON
DillonWill be 2 yrs old on July 18th. He is a handsome, light brown boy with a small white blaze on his chest. He will be neutered before leaving CSH. From an excellent lineage, Dillon would do best in a Chessie-wise home. He has spent time with an experienced hunt trainer, is very in-tune with his man, but is protective of his property so needs a  person understanding of the chessie protectiveness that will provide Dillon with a meaningful job in his new life. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

MISHA
photoA lovely, smart, young looking 8 yr old spayed female. Dark deadgrass, shots up-to-date, microchipped and just waiting for the right home to move into. Misha is a very pretty girl who would do best in a home of older children.

For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

MOCHA

MochaHere is our 'clown dog' - Mocha is a very independent spirit - loves having a farm to roam and care for. He was good with children, but not so great with other dogs in his space. His first life was hard, so he missed the puppyhood training that is so critical in a good dog's life. Mocha is about 85 pounds, dark brown, shots-up-to-date and microchipped, neutered. He's a happy-go-lucky boy. Not to ever be tied out again! For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net. (

SUNNY

Sunny

A sweet 10 year old male deadgrass. Sunny is the cleanest dog we know - yes, he sheds, but that is minor. He is neutered, shots up-to-date, micro-chipped. Sunny has been at Safe Harbor a while - adopted 2x, but gets possessive of his new home and people. Thus, he will need a strong minded individual to let him know he does not need to take care of the door - he does not act 10 - very frisky for his age and size - a good 95 pounds. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net. (

BUDDY

BuddyA handsome 4 year old neutered male, brown, about 90 pounds. Buddy is fearful of new people, so will take a while to warm up. He lost his home thru no fault of his own - his man's job took him out of the country and there was no place for Buddy. Buddy would benefit from a strong chessie-wise man who will understand his attitude and need for socializing plus some obedience training. He loves a game of ball and is definitely looking for his own place in life now. Yes, he has a soft mouth - will sit nicely for his meals and cookies - there is great hope for this boy! For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

GRIFFY

GriffyA loving, sweet small brown spayed female. Griffy never had a life - now at age 7 she is still hoping for the right person to see her great qualities - especially her willingness to give completely of her devotion. She is sparse of coat, but on checking thyroid, all is normal... Griffy is one that really deserves that second chance. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

ZEKE

photo A very sweet 4-1/2 year old neutered male. Zeke is deaf, apparently since birth. This special needs dog is looking for that special person to understand him and keep him safe. Has been with children - but concern about possessive attitude of food, etc. with other dogs. Zeke will need to be in a home with no small children or other dogs. He is obedience trained and good with hand signals - is gentle of mouth when taking food from hand; he will amuse himself with his toys - a very good youngster..... but still a lot of puppy. For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

AMY

photoAmy came to Safe Harbor 3 years ago, grew up in a puppy mill. She is a 72# spayed deadgrass but extremely shy, especially of men. However, in a quiet home, especially female, Amy would come along nicely. She can smile and enjoy a belly rub—no aggression at all! Amy is about 9 yrs old, but looks very young! Amy has come a long way towards accepting interaction with people since she has been at Safe Harbor. A real sweetie! For info, contact Jane Peabody, Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 207-529-4511, jpeabody@gwi.net

DJ
photoDJ is a 5yr old neutered male who is looking for a new home only because I am moving and cannot take them all. He is house broken, knows all commands (sit, stay, down, come). Dj has also done a little agility which he loves. He is very affectionate and playful, and would do well with older kids. He also is used to cats and gets along good with well mannered dogs, although he loves the attention of being the only dog. I cannot say enough good things about this boy and know that he will give the right home years of joy. I am asking a $100 adoption fee. We are located in central New Jersey and I would prefer to keep him close.

Please contact Stacy George 609-558-2607, stacy77@comcast.net (listing updated 8/29/07)
