2004 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient - Dr. John C. Lundy

The 2004 ACC Specialty is dedicated to Dr. John Cruzen Lundy, and we are pleased to award him the 2004 ACC Lifetime Achievement Award, on behalf of the ACC Board of Directors and all ACC members. John has owned Chesapeakes since he was 11 years old, and in fact got his first  one, “Buster”, from a rural doctor who made winter rounds right here in Cascade with a three-Chesapeake dog-sled team! We know John as the owner of many fine Chesapeakes, most notably FC AFC Atom Bob, who still influences our breed. John trained “Bob” himself, and they earned 92.5 all-age points, qualified for seven Nationals, and won three ACC Specialties. John has judged many field trials since 1950, including three Nationals. He was one of the founders of the Idaho Retriever Club (one of  the earliest trial clubs in the Northwest), and served as its first President. Lundy’s love of Chesapeakes, his passion for hunting and the fields and river bottoms of Boise led him on a long journey to Grand Junction, TN, where Lundy joined his favorite dog, Atom Bob, in the Retriever Field

Trial Hall of Fame in February, 2003. A long-time member of the ACC, John has served as it’s President twice, for a total of five years. Perhaps most important however is the continued support and encouragement that many of us have received from John over the years. He has always been ready to mentor newcomers to this sport…Especially those that ran brown dogs! John, thanks for all your contributions to the sport and to our breed!!!

John Lundy and his famous FC/AFC Atom Bob. John and "Bob" are the first Chesapeake person and dog elected to the Retriever Field Trial Hall of Fame.
