Why You Should Consider Joining the ACC

The American Chesapeake Club is the parent club that speaks for the Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the American Kennel Club. We own and control the breed standard that defines our breed and provides a blueprint for breeders to follow in the preservation of this unique American breed. We send a delegate to the American Kennel Club to represent our interests and be our voice in that representative body. We are an all volunteer organization that holds events across the U.S. We hold seminars, working dog stakes, hunt tests, field trials, conformation shows, agility trials, tracking trials, fun days, and “Meet the Breed” booths. Those events give us opportunities to see a wide range of dogs, make friends, connect with mentors, and learn from one another. Our rescue network works hard to provide a safety net for dogs in need. Our health committee keeps us informed about health issues, opportunities to participate in research, and makes recommendations that help us direct financial resources to research projects that will benefit our breed and canine health in general. We provide breed education to judges, breeders, and fanciers. For over a century, the American Chesapeake Club has remembered our past, brought us together in the present, and planned for the future well-being of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever. If you are looking for a faithful hunting buddy, a hiking partner, or a field trial competitor, we all share the goal of wanting a quality dog. Join the American Chesapeake Club and help us preserve this truly American breed.
